Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon

The Wine Country Half Marathon series consists of “boutique” destination running races held in scenic wine regions, complimented by wine, food and entertainment driven activities. The Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon course begins and ends at Doukenie Winery in Hillsboro and is set on Virginia scenic byways, many of which follow the same historic routes they did when they were chartered centuries ago. Featuring stunning vistas, the route meanders past historic farms, along rolling vineyards and farmland and under tree-canopied country lanes. Afterwards, enjoy the post-race Wine & Music Festival where runners join family and friends to enjoy food, entertainment, the awards ceremony, and wine tasting from Loudoun’s finest vintners.

Event time:

7:00am race start; 9:30am-12:00pm Wine & Music Festival

Admission Fee/Ticket Price:

$95/runner if purchase before 1/1/11; $105/runner if purchased after 1/1/11; discounts available for teams/groups.

Doukenie Winery

So you’re saying there will be wine? I am slightly intrigued by this.

  2. meghanunc said: my good friend did this race last year and loved it. they even pass out fruit wine samples along the way! not that she recommended that, haha, she took one sip and realized that it would be a very bad idea, haha
  3. sherjan said: I ran this last year! It was fun and yes they serve wine at mile 10. It is sold out already for this year :(
